Soundswrite is a women-only poetry group run from Leicester. This is their first anthology, profits donated to the Parkinson's Disease Society. It's well-produced, loved the cover image, and worth investigating. Four poems each from 12 poets, some of whom are widely published and others I didn't know. I liked Karin Koller's angry concrete poem After Rosalind. Christine Coleman and DA Prince are consistently good poets, Sally Festing too. Bernice Read's Memorials is a sombre highlight of the book. That Soundswrite achieves a purpose in bringing together women through poetry is significant in itself, and in producing this enjoyable anthology they have done more than advertise themselves.
